Update
Wah...haven't blogged for so long cos my monitor broke down... ok so here's what's been happening...
19 Jan Friday
Had dinner with Alicia and Abel at city hall after school and den went to meet Dot, Al, Amanda and Jerry who were recording at NAFA... den Al drove to Matt's place so we kinda sent him off first before he actually left for America.. came home very tired but had to wake up really early for...
20 Jan Saturday
Peace Workshop. Was slightly late for it cos had a little difficulty getting up in the morning ... had to be in church by 830... den the night before still was thinking of going airport at an insane hour to send Matt off... =P Peace workshop lasted for nearly the whole day so we didn't have youth service.. met 5 guys from the workshop who were from SAS.. hope that they come join us regularly for youth and that they'd come to know the Lord too! :) so glad to see the youth mingling around with other people lah.. quite a refreshing change from the usual.. so painted house, here we come...
after that, went for ministry leaders' meeting... glad that the church is moving forward yeah.. den apparently, some of the youths were so nicely waiting for us so that we can have dinner together.. so nice rite? :) didn't really eat much lah cos we were practically eating the whole day with all the tea breaks and all... :P t'was another tiring day lah...
21 Jan Sunday
New team as usual... Then went for service. There was a guest speaker named Danny Pollock. The message was timely and it really spoke to me... i believe it's something that the Lord is emphasising for this season- for us to see that Jericho is in our hands. We need eyes that see... and so the Lord was even touching me and doing a deep work in my heart even during the preaching itself lah.. i really appreciate it cos sometimes, being in CC, i dun get to go for service at all! Those times that the Lord really works inside of me are really precious! :)
Went out to eat Pepperlunch at j8 for lunch and den went back to church to practice for the Prayer Convocation. We din get much done lah cos we didn't really have much time and some of the steps were not that easy to catch lah.. oh and apparently, the worship team has already started practising for connection 33:3 man.. it's great to have committed and hard-working people who are really willing to sacrifice their time and energy for the Lord yeah.. it's through these things that the kingdom of God advances... they may be small steps but they mean much.. so well done, guys.. you're the kind of ppl that inspire me... :)
Went for concert in the evening with Al, Dot, Nic and Hui En... Frankly, i still don't know how to appreciate classical music lah but i can say that i did enjoy the last piece! Then went for supper...hahahaha (i think i appreciated the chicken wings more than the concert :P ) went home rather late... it was a good thing that Mondays are my free days..
22 Jan Monday
Didn't do much today... was on the computer in the early afternoon to check my mail among other things.. only went out for dinner.. While coming back home, i decided to walk home from the MRT station and i was glad i did cos i was worshipping God in my heart and the Holy Spirit was with me... I was singing "Worthy is the Lamb" and was just experiencing the presence of God out there on the streets and it was wonderful! Good thing there were not many people around along the streets on the way to my place cos I was tearing before the presence of God. Whoever's reading this, i just wanna encourage you to learn how to spend time with God, anywhere, anytime... it's really worth your while! :) And so as I was singing that song, it occured to me how much we often forget about the sacrifice that Jesus has made for us... we often forget the place where it all began- the cross. And that's why when we think of the cross, we worship Him cos He is really worthy and no one can challenge that! Thing abt Christianity today is we become too self-centred.. we want more gifts, more blessings, we want God to take care of our problems... and we get so consumed by these things that the value of the cross in our lives get diminished... If you're reading this, pause right now and spend some time thanking Jesus for the cross...
Came back home and discovered the computer monitor was not working... i dunno why but it was working perfectly that morning. Actually, had a lot of things to do which involved the computer but since the monitor was down, i didn't get to them.. on one hand was kinda anxious cos i needed to do things but on the other hand was kinda relaxed that i didn't have to do them cos there was nothing i really could have done...
Was reading the Jesus Freak series and there was something which impressed me.. when the time comes for martyrs to die for their faith, we shouldn't pray for the Lord to deliver us from the situation (unless of course He tells us to lah) but rather, we should pray that He would strengthen us instead to endure whatever trials and circumstances that comes along the way so that we do not get disqualified and that we don't end up giving up and abandoning Christ at the last minute! God will give us the grace lah...
23 Jan Tuesday
Went early to school to use the school com to check for tutorial venues. Then went for TS lecture... a random thought just occured to me during lecture regarding my com... actually, many of us think that the monitor is not really a very important part of the computer system. Well, at least not as important or key as the motherboard or CPU and so some take it for granted... but when my monitor broke down, it made me realise that the whole PC couldn't function without it.. it's really just like the body of Christ.. we're all connected... when something happens to one part of the body, the whole body is affected... that's why in the body of Christ, everyone is important...
Then went for Sociology lecturer and the lecturer said something interesting which caught my attention cos he was talking something about how sociology was more concerned with the study of culture as opposed to the study of human nature cos culture changes while human nature remains more or less the same.. it caught my attention cos indeed it is easy to think of how wicked humans are by nature.. as in no one has to teach us to be evil cos sin is already part of our nature.. but Christ came to overturn that.. He din just come so that we can adopt His kingdom culture but more important than that, He is more concerned with what we become, when we become transformed and have the same nature as He has and become as He is... Then, we'll be one with Him... That's what God originally intended for us to be! :)
Ended school early cos didn't have a movie screening for EN2113... but guess wad.. we were supposed to go home and do our homework... which is to watch tv! :P
24 Jan Wednesday
Went to school for SSA1202 tutorial... so it was our first tutorial in the semester and within the tutorial, we were supposed to split up into groups lah.. and so i ended up in this group called the Dancing Merlions (dun ask... and yes, it was my idea...). In the group, met this girl.. she introduced herself as "Ashley".. ok and den she turned out to be from Ngee Ann Poly... ok.. and den she found out that i was from a church near Yio Chu Kang.. ok... Den she asked me whether it was near Thomson..ok.. den she asked me whether i knew Joanna...ok.. Den i asked her which Joanna...ok.. and den guess wad... it turned out that this same "Ashley" is also JK's friend Si Min whom I have always heard about!!! And guess wad... she was supposed to go out with JK that evening but in the end they couldn't so JK was free to attend Prayer Meeting.. And guess wad some more.. JK was just asking me a few days back if i've met Si Min in school lah.. and apparently JK asked her the same question of whether she has met alvin and i in school.. What a big coincidence.. but well, everything happens for a purpose, rite? ;) I mean God places you at the right place, at the right time, for the right purpose with the right people to do the right things... ;)
Went to church for Wednesday Prayer Meeting and it was important for me to examine my heart- why was i there for? Is it because it's been a routine for me to do so already? Is it because a have a duty to fulfill? Perhaps cos my frens are there? Perhaps cos i "have to"? Or is it because i want to meet, experience and encounter the Living God? Motives of the heart are more important than the actions...
I realised that during the worship, i was more caught up with how people responded to the Lord rather than the simple fact of just pleasing the Lord Himself... my focus was diverted from God to man and these kind of things are not healthy cos as a worship leader, you gotta set the standards.. even if everyone else is more concerned about man or the environment, i should still keep my eyes on Jesus, seeking simply to please the Lord... a point to take note of and remember..
What are you here for? :)
