Worship in Truth

While on my way to church for the last night of the revival meeting, the Lord impressed something upon my heart. Do you know that we actually have a privilege in worshipping God in truth and that no one else has this privilege? Let me explain... Some don't know and don't have the Word of God in their lives but because we have it, we have the privilege to worship God in truth. People and religious groups have their own forms of worship which involve their emotions in various expressions... some burn incense or offer sacrifices. For us, we go to church on weekends or weekdays, we sing songs, perhaps like a ritual or even sincerely from our hearts... but where is the bottom line? Where's the bottom line of true worship? What separates our worship and our expression from the rest of the world? The Word of God. The Word of God being manifest in our lives. This is worshipping in truth. This is the bottom line.

Without the Word of God and living it out in our lives, singing songs can be just as meaningless as another ritual. There can even be cults that do things so much like the way we do them... singing songs, laying hands on ppl, etc... what separates us from them? the Truth. Truth is a Person: Jesus Christ, not some intangible cosmic concept. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Truth is the Word of God and Jesus is the Word of God in the flesh (John 1).

That evening, Pastor Ban sang the song "a broken spirit and a contrite heart" which is based on Psalm 51... one of the lines go "You desire the truth in the inward parts" (verse 6)... God desires Jesus inside us... God desires His Word to be deep inside us.. this will in turn result in outward changes and transformation in our lives. He doesn't delight in burnt offerings or sacrifices... so let's do away with the ritualistic singing on weekends..yes, there's a place to worship God with song... but more than that, let's allow God to build into us, to build His Word into us and let us walk daily in it... That's true worship :)

God bless!!! :)
