Honouring the Fathers

"For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers..." 1 Cor 4:15

This post is dedicated to my spiritual father, Uncle Jem.. it's been more than one year since he has officially stopped mentoring me.. and just now when i was sitting in his car once again and listening to his heart, it dawned upon me how much i've missed those mentoring days.. and how much i've missed him.. and how much i've taken those times for granted, especially on his part, being a very busy man, he still spared a good amount of his life apart from work and family just to meet up with me on a one to one basis... And his life and sacrifice has just been such an inspiration to me that i can't even sum it all up in words... and it dawned on me just now how much i really took the times he spent with me for granted especially after not having met up with him for such a session for so long.. truly they say that you dun know how precious something is until it is taken from you...

I am forever indebted to him, as other receipients of his ministry.. ok forgive the somewhat overly sentimental and emo tone of this post.. i dun wanna make it sound as if he has pas.. er... you know... but really he gave of his life.. after i got back home today, i was really tearing in my eyes cos i really thank God for him.. his passion, his compassion, his inspiration and how he gave of himself... truly, in this hi-bye culture, spiritual fathers like him are hard to find.. there wld be ppl who would disciple others but they would do it as if they're doing as job.. But being a true spiritual father is not easy.. it is sacrificial.. but nonetheless rewarding.. But you what.. his example further fuels my driving force towards spiritual excellence in my pursuit of God and in my service to His kingdom... and in context, in the way i relate to my LG and the lives that God has given me.. cos doing such a sloppy job with that would not only dishonour God but also make a mockery of Uncle Jem's input and sacrifice into building me up... and that's why his example helps to inspire me to keep me going.. and hopefully, that i may also be able to inspire others in such a manner...

God bless Uncle Jem and his family... For the nice bunch of you still reading this blog, pls take a moment now and uphold them in prayer... Auntie Jess, Nana, Jaron and Lele too... :D God bless...
