First Day; the aftermath... muahahahaha

Today was the first day of the semester and it seems that last night's story is not yet finished... cos God set me up today with a sign regarding my calling and the impartation i received at the Open Heavens conference and my response to Him.. the very first day of school and the day right after the conference, He ambushes me... hehehe

I went to school early in the morning for lecture and i was surprised that LT8 was empty.. so i decided that there was probably an announcement posted on ivle that i had neglected.. so i reasoned that i should go to the nearest computer terminal to check it out.. i went to the terminals at AS7 but they were still closed that early in the morning so i decided to make my way to the library.. on my way there, there was something in me (more like Someone) that prompted me to go over to LT8 again to check it out.. so i went and i opened the door and lo and behold! there was no one there..

but.. apparently there were 2 international students there who happened to be just as clueless about the lecture scheduling as i was... i ended up making friends with them.. one was from USA and the other was from the Netherlands.. then we went to the Deck just nearby to grab a bite and i got them some char siew buns and siew mai to try :P ... one of them is a physics major so i gave him my personal email add just in case he needed help with the history module... we came back later to the LT cos we found out from the prof that the lecture started at 9.. and i got to know more international students.. 2 more from america, 1 from canada and 1 from estonia.. and we're all gonna be in the same online discussion group together... later, we went back to the canteen for lunch and i got to know them a bit better and i got to tell them a bit about where's what in school and around campus... i got to bring them to the Dungeon.. that elusive place in my faculty where everyone goes to smoke cigarettes in front of a big sign saying "this is a smoke-free campus" and where used cigarette butts would mingle among thick garden plants... (i noticed that they took away the "smoke-free" sign.. probably the school admin just gave up chasing ppl away).. after that, i brought them to the nus press office and then to the bus stop...

ok.. so where am i getting at?? usually, i couldn't care less.. if i didn't sit with my friends in a lecture hall, i'd rather sit alone.. i don't go around trying to get to know many local students, let alone international students! and certainly not 6 of them at one go! it was certainly my first time in the 3 semesters that i've been in nus... so God set me up.. after last night's response and impartation on missions, He's trying to get my attention.. i've been praying recently "God, bring me beyond myself" "Take me out of my comfort zone"... and i didn't expect His answer to be so literal and so sudden! And i felt quite out of place cos they were all caucasians... most speaking very clear english.. it was hard for me to adapt to speaking to them in a particular register cos i didn't really know whether i should speak with my filipino accent which is more understandable to americans or with my normal way of speaking english.. and even so, i certainly couldn't use singlish... but despite of it all, i had to rely on the Holy Spirit.. and trust Him that it's all gonna be alright.. cos many times i dun usually communicate effectively with ppl... i think He really wants me to get that lesson about perfectionism.. that everything doesn't have to look/sound perfect when i talk to ppl.. God was responding to my prayers of breaking my coldness and apathy and he was throwing me in a situation where i can love practically... as He opens doors, maybe i'll even get to minister to some of them.. but i'll let my actions speak.. after all, they know that im Christian... and i just wanna be a blessing to them and testimony of Jesus during their stay in Singapore...

Through it all, i can just imagine God smiling as He watches me trying to find my footing in the deep water... But no matter what happens, even if i'm in an unfamiliar environment, i know i'm safe.. :)

Trust Him! :)
