The Resurrection of The Bee

Well so much has happened in the past week... was really busy with school stuff which all accumulated to saturday when i had a paper due, a test and a project presentation.. but God was really faithful to see me through.. exams are next week and i'm on study break.. but really, once i hit study break i already feel like i'm on hols.. i'm not usually as pressed during exam season as during weeks when assignments are due..

Anyway, God's really been showing me a lot of things and blessing me with lotsa people speaking into my life.. went to Pastor Timothy's house on Saturday with Auntie Lily and i'm blessed by them.. Even Pastor Aaron who i've never met before prophesied over me and released to me God's assurance! Just wonderful being in the presence of God... On sunday, went to CSCC again where the Spirit arrested me during the service and the sermon really spoke to me and challenged me.. And God's been really good to order circumstances in my life the perfect way and evrything turns out beautiful even as i learn to trust Him as i walk with Him...

No time to really post all that the Lord has been teaching me here so i'll just note down this one important and interesting incident that happened on Sunday...

I was on my way to church from town and i had to change bus somewhere at Upper Thomson Road in the middle of the journey... While i was on the bus, i was consumed with thoughts of God, praying fellowshipping and communing with Him.. had just received a spiritual deposit, an impratation in my spirit when after having gone for service earlier in the morning..

So i was caught up with thoughts of God, even singing praises, etc.. when i got off the bus, i was at this empty bus stop where no one was around.. at that time, i was singing "I am a flower quickly fading..." and i noticed that there was this little flying insect nearby.. it looked like a bee (though when i looked at it more closely later, i don't think it was really a bee but a colourful flying insect).. it was so ironic that it was flying around as i was singing about me being a flower.. haha.. but i didn't want it to land on me so i took care not to let it.. and guess what.. it did.

One moment i was watching it.. den it flew past me.. so i turned to see it again.. but i didn't.. so i guessed that it had landed on the back of my shirt.. not sure, i stood up and walked around, and shook my shirt hoping that the little motion that i stirred would move it of my back... still not sure if it was there, i then reached my hand to the back of my shirt, hoping to generate further movement that would perhaps promt it to move away.. and in that moment, i felt my hand land exactly where the insect was! so i quickly brushed it aside and in doing so, i flinged it onto the floor.. and i stood and watched as it lied there, motionless...

I thought that i had really killed the poor bee.. at first, it didn't bother me so much.. but as i was in that bus stop, communing and fellowshipping with God, there was something of His presence that changed me.. it was knowing something of the heart of the Creator that cares for every tiny member of His creation.. in my spirit i felt there was just a form of supernatural love and compassion that was there, even as in child-like faith, i told God in prayer that i felt sorry for that poor bee..

So as i sat there, suddenly, inspiration came.. i remembered those times when i heard messages about resurrecting dead plants.. and even practicing resurrecting road kill.. so i thought that i'd go and try to resurrect this bee! At least, there was no harm trying.. and there was no one at the bus stop to think i was crazy...

So i went to the poor little motionless fellow and observed it closely.. i blew upon it just to test if it was really dead.. and its body was moved slightly by my breath.. but no more.. so in my spirit, i prayed and asked God to raise it up and asked God for a flow of life to the creature... i then proceeded to reach out my index finger and touched the tiny little body... at once, it sprang to life! It started moving around.. but i could see it struggle.. it was almost like it was moving around aimlessly, having lost its zeal and purpose... it was just moving randomly in the ground.. and struggling even while i was at it.. though i was glad with my partial success, i felt sad for the little insect.. it was created to fly.. and so i prayed and ask God to heal it and restore its ability...

After a while of observing the poor bee struggle to move, i saw it stop as abruptly as it had begun. It lied there, motionless... again. I was kinda sad.. it seemed that the bee had given up hope.. and it seemed that life had left it again.. i just figured i'll just leave it there... even as i started to doubt the validity of my previous attempt at resuurecting it. But something in me decides not to give up. so i continued praying and stretched out my hands toward it.. i din't want to touch it again.. cos i figured it might be dangerous to do so just in case it attacks me or something... but later, i changed my mind.. i prayed and asked God again for an impartation of life and once again, with my idex finger, i touched its fragile little body...

The exact moment i touched it, it sprang to life! Immediately, it mounted its wings and shot straight up, fluttering right past the roof of the bus stop where i never saw it again! It happened in the twinkling of an eye.. and i was just there, kinda stunned and amazed by that experience... I felt God's presence, even like as if power had just gone out from me.. and i knew it was God!

The incident left me with several valuable lessons from the Lord. He's the God of the creation and now, it's more alive to me how He wants to restore life to His creation. The fall resulted in death upon the entire earth cos earth was under the dominion of man. Man sinned and corruption came. God's perfect creation was damaged. The relationship between man and animals became hostile as a result of that corruption. Though now we see the beauty of God's hand through fallen creation dimly, imagine what more glorious it would be when creation is once again perfected and brought to the glorious liberty of the sons of God (Romans 8)! Now it makes all the more sense when the Bible tells us to preach the gospel to "all creation" (it's in Luke i think)! That's cos God wants to bring all of creation back to the fulness of redemption and glory, just as how He wants to bring us to that glory also!

Another lesson i learned was that the flow of life comes as a result of the flow of love... As i communed with God and felt His heart for that one single bee, the love and compassion just flowed... And as i result of that, the resurrection life flowed... If God is so concerned for that one single little insect, how much more He is with you and i, and the souls of all humanity! One of the dangerous poison in this corrupted world is apathy.. and if i had moved in apathy, as if i couldn't care less about that little creature, i wouldn't have seen God work in wondrous ways! But the antidote to this poison is love! Love that comes fresh right out of a relationship with the Creator Lover! It's a love that's practical and powerful! If you and i want to move in greater signs and wonders in these last days, we must start practising a life of love... and then that same resurrection life and power will flow out of us.

Faith. It takes faith to act. It takes childlike faith to believe God for even the simplest things and then just begin to start doing them. This incident showed me the importance of what it means to be childlike.

Sometimes, we also don't like the idea of making contact... especially in the context of relationships.. the world says "once bitten, twice shy".. but i also learned the lesson that the flow of love and life comes with contact.. many times, it's not enough to just sit around and distance ourselves from the situation waiting for things to happen.. we've gotta get down, get our hands dirty and even perhaps do something downright gross so as to touch a dead body (in fact Jewish custom forbids the practice)! But there's a flow of life! Sometimes, we have to make the first move, talk to people we don't really wanna talk to, build/mend relationships with them, etc.. but there's a flow of life! The reason why the dead sea is so dead is cos there's no flow! Everything just goes in but nothing comes out! God's life needs to flow through us.. when we get off our butts and start doing something, we'll see Him move through us! Hallelujah! :D

The little bee had a destiny.. it was meant to fly... but something dislodged it off course.. and it gets beaten down, lying dead still, motionless... but God cares.. he wants the bee back on its feet.. life flows to its still body and soon, the bee is back up but it struggles.. it moves around but can't find its place and purpose.. it's destiny seems too far out of reach.. so it gives up.. but God won't give up on it! Life flows again through a tiny little finger until the bee flies and shoots upwards, to do exactly what it was created to do...

Many times, you and i may feel like that bee... i know i do... the vision gets clipped we fall down discouraged.. we stop moving with God.. den God touches us.. and we're back on our feet.. but not the same as before.. perhaps we've become discouraged, jaded in this corrupted world.. we struggle to live for a while but then we say "it's useless" and we give up... the frustration wells up and climaxes.. we say "i've tried so hard and got so far but in the end it doesn't even matter!" that's the condition of humanity.. (that's why that song is so popular in the first place!).. We may give up hope and stop moving again.. lying there motionless.. but then we hear another sound.. like the voice of many waters.. it calls us upwards.. it calls us to arise and shine.. to be what we were created to be.. to do what we were created to do! He touches us and brings a flow of life.. a flow of vision... a flow of strength.. a flow of passion.. then, we're back on our feet, and back on our wings! May this story be like the finger of God and touch your heart today! God bless!

I know i won't be resurrecting cockroaches any time soon!
